MOCCA 2009!

Fried Minds. A good, HOT, busy, tiring, fun, exhilarating, and educational weekend at the MOCCA festival for Comics Queens. See the CQ website for more pictures. That’s Peter Quach sitting at the half-table in the picture above. Miriam, Peter, and I had a wonderful time meeting so many people and seeing so many great comics. Thanks to Preeti, AJ, Jessica, Alexander, and Nick for all their help!!!

That’s Me, Peter, and KOOMI at the table.

Miriam and AJ Morales!

We have lots of new ideas for next year.
A comic book I’m really excited about: THE NOBODY by Jeff Lemire, who did TALES FROM ESSEX COUNTY.
It’s coming out this summer from Vertigo. I walked by the table and my eye caught a guy covered in bandages …
The description about a mysterious stranger only adds to the allure. I can’t wait! I really liked Essex County #1 and #2, and while #3 wrapped up a lot of storylines well, I just didn’t like it that much. Have high hopes for this one.
On a related note, wearing bandages all the time can be a slightly messy practice. Luckily, Smith just doesn’t give a damn. Farago is completely naked, though.
I’m looking forward to Sweet Tooth from Vertigo. Hooray
hey, i am from essex county! i didn’t know there was a comic about it.
great blog, by the way. i’m enjoying it so much.

It’s a lovely comic —- by Jeff Lemire, but it’s about Essex county in Canada. Here’s a popmatters review of the first book in the series (and the NY public library has all of these) : http://www.popmatters.com/pm/review/essex-county-vol-1
thanks Amy!
